About Marilyn

In 2004 Marilyn sensed that God was moving her away from her career as a speech-language pathologist and  professor in Christian higher ed, to writing and other areas of women's ministry.  Since that time, she has been a contributor to compilations such as Additional Christmas Moments, Life on Purpose for Mothers, Chicken Soup for the Mother of Preschooler’s Soul, and Chicken Soup for the Soul:New Moms. She's shared her thoughts and encouragement on online sites such as A Widow's Might/A New Season, The Mother's Heart Magazine, Red Chair Moments, Acts of Kindness and other blogs and in print publications such as CHERA and Reach Out Columbia. Her first book, Dressed up Moms’ Devotions to Go, was released in May, 2006.  She served as editor for Penned from the Heart, a compilation of 366 devotions and poems for two years.

Nearly thirty years ago Marilyn had the benefit of a mentor who pointed her to extraordinary treasures from the Bible. She has also found that life's paths with its detours, seasons, and challenges have priceless God-given treasures along the way and inspired her to write Diva Delights.  She considers it a privilege to pass on her life experiences through writing and teaching.

Marilyn has served in women's ministries in her church for several years as a mentor and a Bible study teacher. Her experiences as a member of a tea group prompted her to write Tea Lovers' Devotions to Go.  She enjoys sharing refreshment to women's groups in learning about tea as a beverage and as an experience and has developed a course for a community college.

Marilyn and her husband took early retirement in January and moved to the Charlotte area in 2009. Life abruptly changed in December, 2011, when her husband suffered a fatal attack. Her experience with grief and loss have allowed her to encourage women, contribute to blogs on that topic and serve as a facilitator for a grief support group at her church. Her articles on grief were featured in Reach Out Columbia. In August 2014 she moved to Greer, SC where she enjoys being near family and a church family at Taylors First Baptist Church. She has found God's faithfulness to be real with every step she takes and draws on the truth of Lamentations 3:22-23 daily. Marilyn has three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, and eight sweet grandchildren. When they  gather around her dining room table, you will hear her say without a doubt, "My cup is running over."
